The final and most grueling stage to film production. The film is finished, now it’s time to sell your hard work.

Distribution Search

Distribution is part of the 3 way Catch 22 in the independent film industry. There are 3 elements you need to make your film marketable: funding, bankable actor, distribution. In order to get funding, they want to know where your film is going. In order to get a distributor, they want to know who is in your movie. In order to get a named actor, you need funding. It’s a horrible nightmare, but usually if you can secure one then the others will fall in place.

Even though we have this listed in the final section of our film services, distribution is a big part of the development phase. Once we get an idea of what your film is and what your goals are for it, we begin to work with you to find a suitable home. We won’t lie, distribution is TOUGH and even high quality films will have to fight their way in front of the right eyes. While we can’t promise that your film will get picked up by a high end executive at one of the big 5, we can dedicate our efforts into getting your film in front of as many eyes as possible.

Film Festivals

Even if you don’t secure a distributor, all hope is not lost. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Film Festivals are a very common course of action for an independent film maker. There are many festivals to choose from that take place around the world and you can only gain by having your film in as many as possible. It gives your film some experience and clout, and if the film does well enough to rack up any awards or nominations then your marketability has just increased. Not to mention that sometimes distributors will shop the festival market, so you never know who’s watching your film.

Now we could claim that we have the ultimate and secret source of festivals and we will only give it to you if you hire us (enter evil laughter here). But the truth of the matter is, the information is spread around the internet and even a little bit of homework will usually churn up plenty of results. However, our goal here is to help you in any way that we can so we have collected a few links and posted them here for your reference. DVD Authoring and Replication

Part of the services that Fade 2 Black Productions, Inc. offers is DVD authoring and replication. Generally for film festival submissions you only send them a straight play DVD (as opposed to a disc full of trailers or special features), however if you are going to start your marketing with self distribution then we can help you put together a presentable disc that will showcase your film professionally. This can be carried out a few different ways. First, we can author the entire disc and make you a full master than can be then copied from. Alternatively, we can author the full DVD and provide it to you on a hard drive that you can then take around to other fulfillment companies, or we can compress and prepare the raw elements if you choose to author them yourself. There are companies such as Disc Makers that will also provide the services for you, but if you would rather have us handle it as part of an all inclusive package then we will be happy to do so.
